This School Spotlight segment features St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. Thank you to the St. Teresa staff for taking the time to gather and reflect on the past, present and future of the school.

Past: The establishment of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in 1999 marked a significant moment in the local community's history, as it honoured the legacy of Mother Teresa, whose global influence transcended boundaries. Dedicated to divine service and exemplifying unwavering commitment to Jesus, Mother Teresa's beatification in 2003 was met with gratitude by Pope John Paul II. Now, as the school commemorates its twenty-fifth anniversary, the spirit of celebration resonates throughout its corridors. Students, staff, parents, and stakeholders unite in commemorating this milestone, drawing inspiration from St. Teresa's life and teachings to embody virtuous principles.

Present: The revitalization of the butterfly garden symbolizes the school's dedication to the call to Stewardship of Creation with the introduction of a cherry tree, individually crafted stones, and the release of 25 butterflies hatched by the Primary students. Through our outreach program supporting DARS, we echo Mother Teresa's message to the community. A time capsule containing artifacts, a silver jubilee yearbook, a video showcasing student performances, and a compilation of Mother Teresa's quotes perpetuate the motto, “Sharing Our Love.” Festivities including Mass, a community barbecue, and an open house foster camaraderie and solidarity among all stakeholders. Through partnerships with local authorities and organizations, the school ensures a safe environment for its students.

Future: With a focus on spiritual, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School provides a comprehensive education. Regular Masses, sacramental preparations, and Catholic Graduate Expectation assemblies nourish students spiritually to be followers of Jesus Christ. The implementation of current research-proven teaching and learning strategies and a diverse array of extracurricular activities support our commitment to the holistic development of each student. The school's vision extends beyond its anniversary celebration, aiming to continue its legacy as a beacon of educational excellence, enriching the fabric of the Ajax community for generations to come.
