Regional Arts & Media Program students from All Saints Catholic Secondary School (Whitby, ON) have created submissions for the CBC Music Class Challenge for the past three years, ever since the Regional Arts & Media Program opened in 2018. All Saints Catholic Secondary School has placed in the Top 10 each year it has entered the CBC Music Class Challenge.

This year, their entry of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” won “Top Virtual Video” - a surprise category that was created during the deliberation process. Students from the Instrumental Music and Performing Arts – Vocal Music streams each practiced and recorded their part individually, due to health and safety measures in place this year.

“The video is a testament our students’ God-given talent, passion and creativity to shine during these challenging times,” said Tracy Barill, Director of Education at the Durham Catholic District School Board. “Congratulations to the students and staff for promoting 21st century learning skills through creative projects”.

“We are thrilled to receive this award and recognition,” said Mr. Paglia, Instrumental Music teacher with the Regional Arts & Media Program. “Each student performed their individual part remotely, which we later mixed together.” Mr. Paglia added, “I am so proud of all the students for their efforts, passion, and commitment to the arts”.

All Saints Catholic Secondary School will receive $3,000 in new musical instruments and a plaque for their outstanding accomplishment.
