Important School Update

May 23, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Following the severe storms that passed through the Durham Region on Saturday, we have been monitoring power outages and have been communicating with regional authorities with regards to the extent of the damages across the system.

We understand that some households may continue to be without power, internet and/or cell service and we ask that you share this information as best you can with family and friends.

All schools with power, will resume classes as scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

At this time, we believe that all our schools have had their power restored with the exception of:

  • St. Marguerite D’Youville Catholic School, Whitby;
  • St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, Ajax; and
  • St. Leo Catholic School, Brooklin.
We will provide a further and final update to these three schools after 8:00 p.m. this evening.

PLEASE NOTE

Transportation - Buses will be running, however, all parents/guardians are asked to monitor DSTS for system delays and or cancellations.

Absences – a reminder to all parents and guardians to please advise the school if your child(ren) will be absent. If you are without internet, please call the school and leave a message if possible.

We pray for everyone who has been impacted by the storms and give thanks for all the helpers who have been working around the clock to support power restoration and clean up throughout the region.

Yours in Faith,

Tracy Barill
