Indigenous Student Circle Overnight Trip to Claremont Nature Centre

Posted On Wednesday April 24, 2024

On Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11, members of the Indigenous Student Circle experienced an immersive overnight experience at Claremont Nature Centre.

Students began their time by taking part in team building activities led by the Claremont staff. They also had an opportunity to participate in learning opportunities that were planned based on their input and knowledge of their interests. The wilderness survival activities included fire starting and shelter building, followed by a guided evening hike. The students chose to finish off their night by having a group campfire which involved roasting marshmallows, followed by some game time.

The next day began with an introduction to some of key concepts in photography and a chance to explore the area an take some amazing nature photographs, and there was a bit of drizzle that made their photos even more interesting. The students finished their time with some mini-Olympics games that encouraged more teamwork. The students left happy and mentioned that there was nothing they would change about the trip.
