Female Black adult speaking to a group of male and female studentsPoet, artist and writer, Nadine Williams spoke to students in Grades 5 to 8 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School on February 10 about Black History Month. Ms. Williams shared stories about her childhood in Jamaica and her immigration to Canada at the age of 15 with the students. She also read her poem entitled “Immigrant Child” to the students and staff.

Female student throwing a curling rock on an ice rink Junior and Intermediate students at Good Shepherd Catholic School have had the opportunity to learn about the sport of curling at the Port Perry Curling Rink.  Students have tried their hand at sweeping the stone and trying to score.  They have learned about the different types of shots called the guards, draws and takeouts.  Students have indicated they would like learn further about this great winter sport.
