Claremont Nature Centre On April 24, Indigenous students in Grades 6-12 across Durham Catholic District School Board joined together for a fun filled day at Claremont Nature Centre in Pickering. This day is one of the outings offered to members of the Indigenous Student Circle (ISC). Indigenous Community Partners at Monsignor Paul DwyerDCDSB Indigenous Education in partnership with the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) hosted a project for students to experience learning on the land, cooking Indigenous dishes and exploring skilled trades.

Robert CuttingMme D’Lima and Mme Lafontaine-Lisi’s classes at St. James Catholic School, along with the Grade 6 to 8 French Immersion classes at St. Patrick Catholic School, enjoyed a special visit from author and storyteller Robert Cutting. Students were captivated by his engaging stories, hearing about his Haudenosaunee ancestry and the significance of Treaties. Many were inspired to read his books in French after hearing him speak, while others eagerly asked when he might return.

Acts of ReciprocityStudents at St. Patrick Catholic School and St. James Catholic School participated in acts of reciprocity.
