Over the past two years, the board has utilized its operating reserves and ministry stabilization funding to support lower class sizes, address remote learning options, purchase additional technology, hire additional support staff, and promote enhanced cleaning measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021-2022 budget included $273.5 million of operating expenditure and $31.7 million of capital expenditure for a total of $305.2 million. The budget is balanced and is compliant with the financial requirements of the Education Act. The following chart provides a breakdown of expenditure by category for the 2021-2022 school year. Actual results for the 2021-2022 fiscal year also met the Ministry of Education’s reporting requirements. In addition, the board’s external auditor provided an unqualified report regarding the 2021-2022 audited financial statements.
