DCDSB students participate in a variety of Cooperative Education placements. The following include videos and articles of student experiences during their placements.
Jamie, Student at Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School: Cooperative Education Placement at Bloor St. Animal Hospital |
"My placement at Bloor St. Animal Hospital has helped me build employability skills, especially communication, teamwork, and customer service. I am interested in pursuing a career in health care and working with the doctor and veterinary tech has given me a good idea of what I may be doing in the future. I have witnessed surgeries, sterilized equipment, and dealt with many adorable clients and of course their owners." - Jamie, Cooperative Education Student Monsignor John Pereyma C.S.S. |
Lillian, Student at Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School: Cooperative Education Placement at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery |
“My placement at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery has been interesting, informative and educational. The opportunities presented to me throughout my time there have allowed me to experience the funeral service industry and determine if it is a good fit for me. I am able to experience the work environment and learn the necessary skills required to do the job. I interact with the families, help prepare for services and observe the directors as they do their jobs.” - Lillian, Cooperative Education Student at Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School |
Mateo, Matthew, and Benjamin, Students at Archbishop Denis O’Connor Catholic Secondary School: Cooperative Education/STEP Placement at Canadian Tire |
"Our placement is at Canadian Tire in Ajax. Our daily duties are facing products in different departments such as toy, auto, sports, house wares, paint and seasonal. We also recycle cardboard and put items back to where they belong. The skills we learned are decorating Christmas trees, using box cutters, and greeting customers and co-workers. All of us enjoy our placement at Canadian Tire and it is an amazing experience!" - Mateo, Matthew, and Benjamin, Cooperative Education Students at Archbishop Denis O’Connor Catholic Secondary School |
