Students in our schools have been integrating coding and STEM through various projects. We are pleased to share examples of these projects below:
- Tomi, a Grade 3 student at Monsignor Philip Coffey Catholic School created a game in Scratch. He used code to create the timer and score board.
- Allison, a student at St. Bernard Catholic School created an Earth Day coding project. Click here to view this project.

DCDSB educators and staff have been engaging in professional development opportunities focused on coding and STEM, including:
- In January 2023, all Early Childhood Educators were provided a Botley robot to introduce coding and robotics in their classrooms. Educators learned about computational thinking (unplugged coding) and ways to engage young learners in STEM education. The robots provide an opportunity for experiential tasks that promote innovation, problem-solving and collaborative skills.
