Human Resource Services
Achievements
As part of the Durham Catholic District School Board's (DCDSB) commitment to equity, the Human Resource Services department completed Employment Systems Review of the recruiting and interview process. The board is working to recruit a more diverse workforce that is reflective of our students and growing community. The review included the development of a standard operating procedure for interviews, including a scoring template, bias check, and conflict of interest declaration.
DCDSB also developed targeted recruitment channels and liaisons with community partners such as Ontario Alliance of Black School Educators and Philippines Teachers Association of Canada to promote job opportunities in combination with social media advertising and traditional methods of recruitment.
During the 2021-2022 school year, Human Resource Services also focused on the renewal and restructuring of its Aspiring Leaders program. School leadership is second only to the teacher in the impact of student achievement. It is therefore essential that the board continue to invest in the professional development of its leaders at the school and system level. The board completed a fulsome review of this program with a focus on recruiting diverse staff into leadership positions.
