Advance Human Rights & Equity

To promote a culture of respect for the inherent dignity of all DCDSB students, staff, and families, the board implemented programs and initiatives aimed at increasing staff confidence in addressing various forms of discrimination. Board staff received capacity-building training to improve employee student and family engagements through culturally responsive and relevant practices, focusing on an asset-based approach. We enhanced the complaints resolution process, making it more culturally responsive and relevant approach in addressing concerns and resolving complaints. Additionally, there was professional development focused on resolving Code-based complaints. A student demographic survey was conducted to enhance student data and identify patterns and trends regarding student course enrollment, suspension, expulsion, graduation rates, and overall student well-being. Further professional development was provided through an invitational learning series aimed at improving student success and promoting students seeing themselves represented more in their classrooms and curriculum.

We invite you to learn more about the strategic goals and actions accomplished in our 2023-2024 Year-End Report.
