Lent Resources
Beginning on Ash Wednesday, the liturgical season of Lent marks a special 40-day period of preparation before Easter. It is customary on Ash Wednesday for the faithful to pray together and receive blessed ashes on their foreheads - a sign of their mortality as humans and a sign of their need for God in their lives.
The word “Lent” comes from an early English word that refers to the lengthening of daylight hours during spring. This is the time when Christians prepare themselves to celebrate the holiest of all days – Easter – the day of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. Traditionally, Lent is a time when the faithful are invited to pray, fast, and give alms.
It is our hope as a Catholic school board that these resources will assist all students, employees, and their families in a more meaningful spiritual preparation for Easter.
May the love of Christ be with you and your family, this season and always!
