  • Energy Saved During Earth Hour 2024 On Friday, March 22, 2024, lights went out throughout the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) in recognition of Earth Hour! Each year, Earth Hour is celebrated by shutting off lights and electronic devices for 60 minutes to help give an hour to the earth and do something positive for the planet. DCDSB recognized Earth Hour by turning off the lights between 1:00 p.
  • DCDSB and OECTA Durham Secondary Teachers’ Unit Announce New Agreement Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) Durham Secondary Unit are pleased to announce they have ratified a new collective agreement. OECTA Durham Secondary represents the board's secondary and continuing education teachers.
  • Durham Catholic District School Board Recognizes the 2023-2024 Distinguished Catholic Leader The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is pleased to recognize Elementary Principal, Mike Goff, as the recipient of the 2023-2024 Distinguished Catholic Leader Award. The award was announced following a System- Wide Mass on Monday, May 6, 2024, which also recognized Durham Catholic Distinguished Educators from each school and department across the board.
  • Growing in Excitement: White Pine Celebration at All Saints Catholic Secondary School On Tuesday, April 30, secondary students from across Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) came together to critically buzz about books for the annual White Pine Celebration. Taking place in the All Saints Catholic Secondary School Learning Commons, the event was a student-facilitated celebration of books in the White Pine category of the Forest of Reading Program, organized by Teacher-Librarian Monica Dion and Program Support teacher Amanda Duncan.
  • Learning with Lorrie Gallant On Thursday, May 2, several secondary Religion and Family Life and Arts educators had the opportunity for professional development guided by artist, author, curator, professor and Expressive Arts Practitioner, Lorrie Gallant of Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Honored guest speaker Lorrie Gallant spoke on “Indigenous Art as Pedagogy” which included her own history and the histories and truths she experienced during her time as curator and coordinator for the Woodland Cultural Centre in Brantford.

  • DCDSB Celebrates Catholic Education Week and Mental Health Week from May 6-10, 2024 During the first week of May, the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) celebrates Catholic Education Week, which recognizes the significant contribution that Catholic education has made to the community, the province and to Canada. This week is also designated as Mental Health Week, which aims to raise awareness and promote and protect mental health.

  • Life Promotion/Suicide Prevention - Prepare, Prevent and Respond Virtual Workshop Parents, guardians and caregivers are invited to join us for Prepare, Prevent and Respond, a virtual workshop presented by DCDSB Student Services Staff. This workshop will explore some frequently asked questions that will help you prepare, prevent, and respond if your child or adolescent is experiencing thoughts of suicide.
