  • Oshawa Program and Boundary Study - Updates for 2024-2025 School Year Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers, In follow up to the letter shared with families on June 22, 2023, we are writing to provide an update on the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) Oshawa Program and Boundary Study. The following will assist in providing information for students currently attending a DCDSB school in Oshawa.
  • Grade 8 OYAP Trades Days at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School St. Mary Catholic Secondary School is proud to host Grade 8 students from our Pickering and Uxbridge feeder schools for a hands-on experiential learning opportunity promoting the skilled trades and technologies through an Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) trades day.

  • DCDSB and ETFO Announce Tentative Agreement for the Board’s Designated Early Childhood Educators Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is pleased to announce that it has reached a tentative settlement for a renewed collective agreement with the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO). ETFO represents the Designated Early Childhood Educators (DECE) employed by the board.

  • Challenging Indigenous Stereotypes Students in the Grade 11 NBE (Understanding Contemporary First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Voices) class at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School recently challenged Indigenous stereotypes during a Gallery Walk. Using posters provided by Trent University's First Peoples House of Learning, the students engaged with images depicting positive representations of Indigenous identity that challenge racist labels and assumptions.
  • Equity Invitational Learning Series (3) DCDSB is hosting an Equity Invitational Learning Series, Deconstructing Anti-Black Racism: Providing Overdue Outcomes for our Kids, on November 23, 2023. Please see attached brochure for full details.
  • DCDSB Grade 9 Students Get to Work On November 1 Grade 9 students across the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) took part in Take Our Kids to Work Day, an annual career exploration event where participants experience a day in the life of a working professional. Linked with the career component of the Grade 9 curriculum, students had the opportunity to gather information on the realities of work, as well as employment opportunities and entry requirements, while also strengthening the link between home, school and the community.
  • BFCN Scholarship Application Workshop for Black Durham Region Students (Monday November 13th @06:30PM) Black students in the Durham Region and their families are invited to join us for a virtual edition of the BFCN Scholarship Application Workshop on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM EST. Black Foundation of Community Networks (BFCN), in collaboration with the Durham Region Anti-Racism Taskforce (DRART), is providing a free online workshop to show Black students and their families how to search, prepare, and apply for scholarships and bursaries.
  • DCDSB Travel for Credit Program - Summer 2024 DCDSB Travel for Credit Program – Summer 2024 Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre is offering four exciting Travel for Credit options in July 2024 in partnership with EF Educational Tours. Students will have a unique opportunity to earn a credit through a combination of classroom and experiential learning.
