Be You, Be Well: A Black Mental Health Day EventOn Monday, March 4, DCDSB held its fourth annual Black Mental Health Day event to recognize the ongoing impact on mental health that results from experiences of anti-Black racism and to raise awareness of the specific mental health needs of Black communities. The event was a success thanks to our keynote speaker, Roxanne Francis and panelists Trudy Stone, Joy Lapps and Karrianne Edwards from the Women's Multicultural Counselling Centre.

Empowering English Language Learners (ELLs) for Academic and Emotional GrowthThis year we embarked on a new Learning and Innovation Fund for Teachers (LIFT) initiative, Fostering Cultural Connectivity for ELL’s Mental Wellbeing, led by Antonietta Springer and Coleen Dwyer, English as a Second Language (ESL) Itinerant Teachers.
Select ELL students have engaged in collaborative academic and social and emotional tasks, both online and face to face, to develop their English language acquisition skills, oral communication skills and strengthen their mental well-being and sense of belonging.
