  • Mental Health & Well-Being: Supporting a Friend Together for Mental Health: Everyone, Everyday Developing positive mental health is important to academic achievement and overall well-being. Most students have been in a situation where they have supported a friend with their mental health, yet many don’t feel prepared.
  • Secondary Students Compete in White Pine Battle of the Books 2025 On Tuesday, May 6, the spirit of reading and friendly competition was alive and well as secondary students from across the Durham Public and Durham Catholic District School Boards gathered for the annual White Pine Battle of the Books, hosted by the public libraries of Durham Region. This exciting literary showdown saw teams of students test their knowledge on up to ten selected novels from the Forest of Reading White Pine Category, showcasing their dedication, teamwork, and love of reading.
  • Hundreds of Students Celebrate Canadian Literature On Monday, May 12, the joy of reading took center stage at the McKinney Centre in Whitby, where approximately 800 students from the Durham Catholic and Durham Public School Boards gathered for the annual Durham Forest of Reading Celebration. The event, organized by both boards’ library departments, brought together elementary readers and Canadian literary talent in a vibrant, cheerful celebration of books and storytelling.
  • DCDSB Students Participate in the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition On May 5 and 6, DCDSB secondary students competed in Skills Ontario Provincial Competition at the Toronto Congress Centre. Students competed in the following areas: Home Build, 2D Character Animation, Photography, Auto Service Technology, Robotics, Carpentry, and Pluming.
  • DCDSB Students Visit WindReach Farm The DCDSB Deaf and Hard of Hearing Department took students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 on an inclusive and interactive end-of-year trip to promote friendship, connectivity, and community. The group visited WindReach Farm, a place dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals of all ages with disabilities.
  • DCDSB Secondary Students Champion Mental Health Initiatives at Durham TAMI Summit On Thursday, May 8, DCDSB secondary students gathered at Ontario Shores for the Durham Talking About Mental Illness (TAMI) summit. This event provided a platform for students to showcase the mental health and well-being initiatives they have championed throughout the year at their schools.
  • DCDSB Student Services Hosts Unity Hub - Connecting Communities On Thursday, May 8, DCDSB Student Services hosted Unity Hub - Connecting Communities at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School. This event focused on sharing information with families about the services and programs offered by various community organizations, agencies and post secondary pathways.
  • DCDSB Hosts Inaugural Student Human Rights Conference On May 8, we were excited to have Grade 9-12 students from all Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) secondary schools attend our inaugural Student Human Rights Conference! The conference was titled The Strength of Us: Advancing Human Rights with Courage, Compassion, and Conviction. Students enjoyed a day of learning, including workshops, networking and mentorship.
  • DCDSB Celebrates the Election of Pope Leo XIV Habemus Papam! We are blessed to witness the election of Pope Leo XIV.  The Durham Catholic District School Board joins the global Catholic community to celebrate our new Holy Father.
