  • Afternoon of Sharing and Dialogue at Home-School-Parish Symposium On Friday, June 14, we were so excited to welcome our local clergy, parish staff, parents, school administrators and school staff, for a special symposium with the goal to nurture collaborative relationships between families, parishes, and school staff, who share a strong commitment to Catholic education. We want to extend our gratitude to everyone who attended as we continue to strengthen the home-school-parish relationship.
  • Newcomer (to Canada) Orientation Week (NOW): August 20-22 New to Canada? Join Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) for Newcomer Orientation Week (NOW)! Newcomer Orientation Week (NOW) is a three-day program designed to assist newly arrived high school students to become familiar with the Ontario school system.  This interactive program provides an introduction to school procedures and allows the opportunity for high school students to connect with School Settlement Workers and Teachers from the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) and Durham District School Board (DDSB) and have their questions answered.
  • Semester 2 Exam Schedule (Wednesday June 19th - Tuesday June 25th) Formal examinations for grade 9- 12 students will begin on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 through to Monday, June 24, 2024. Exams will be written on a period-by-period schedule, with students writing only one exam per day.
  • David Robertson Visits St. Mary Catholic Secondary School On Thursday, June 6, author David Robertson visited St. Mary Catholic Secondary School.
  • On the Land Learning at All Saints Catholic Secondary School On Thursday, June 6, Indigenous community partner, Beedahbin Peltier, visited students at All Saints Catholic Secondary School. Beedahbin led the students in on the land learning in the forested area next to their school.
  • Vicky The Real Artist Visits Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School On Friday, June 7, English Literature Studies students at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School were fortunate to have the immensely talented Vicky The Real Artist visit their classroom. Vicky expertly guided the class through her knowledge of pyrography, a technique Vicky uses to express her deep connection to her Indigenous roots.
  • Chad Solomon Visits DCDSB Elementary Schools Throughout the month of May, Indigenous author, Chad Solomon visited six DCDSB schools to enhance the learning that took place in elementary classrooms. Chad used puppets and different voices to engage students and lead three workshops.
  • 2024 Oshawa Junior Fire Chief On June 6, Oshawa Fire Services announced their 2024 Junior Fire Chief at Sir Albert Love Catholic School! Grade 5 and 6 students submitted videos on smoke alarms and home escape planning. Gabriel, a Grade 6 student, earned the title of 2024 Junior Fire Chief! At a special assembly, Gabriel was award fantastic prizes and even got to leave in a firetruck for an exclusive tour of the Oshawa Fire headquarters! As Junior Fire Chief, Gabriel will promote fire safety at school, home and in the community.
